Why it wants that
It is a canopy tree, not an understorey plant - it builds sun leaves when it can, which is why it will take a few hours of direct sun and why it has to rebuild the whole canopy when the light changes.
Too little light
It sheds leaves and rebuilds them for the new level: 'if the plant is moved, it may drop leaves and produce new ones that are accustomed to the new light conditions' (NC State).
Too much
No fetched source names a scorch symptom for this species - both NC State and MOBOT list full sun among its tolerated conditions, MOBOT asking only for 'sunny areas with some afternoon shade'.
