Why it wants that
A subtropical evergreen ripens fruit on accumulated light and heat, so 6 hours is the floor for cropping rather than for survival - RHS notes citrus indoors is 'not ideal long term' precisely because a winter windowsill gives neither.
Too little light
Leaves yellow and drop, often in a flush after a move; new shoots come long, thin and widely spaced; flowers open and then abort without setting fruit. This is the classic indoor-overwintering failure.
Too much
Leaves bleach to a pale yellow-green and develop dry scorched patches when it goes straight from a winter indoors into full summer sun without being hardened off.
