Why it wants that
It evolved on a rainforest floor where the canopy takes almost all the light, so its broad thin blades are built to harvest scraps rather than to survive a sunbeam.
Too little light
Leaves drop - The Sill lists leaf drop as this plant's sign of insufficient light - and on variegated cultivars the silver mottling shrinks back towards plain green.
Too much
Direct afternoon sun burns the blades, leaving dry bleached patches on the upper surface.
